How Mikci begins
Connect bank activity through Plaid, or explore first with sample activity. Mikci learns a spending rhythm over time. Most days stay quiet.
- Explore. New accounts can start with fictional sample financial activity — including sample bills, payday, and spending.
- Connect. Share your own financial activity through Plaid when ready for personalized observations.
- Live normally. Mikci watches in the background while you go about your week.
- Receive a letter. When something meaningfully changes, Mikci may write.
- Decide. Choose Make this Promise or Not this time.
- Get an answer. After the check period, Mikci evaluates automatically and sends a result letter.
How Mikci works
Mikci is a money companion — not a traditional budgeting app. It uses sample activity or connected transaction activity to power quiet observations. Promises are optional. Mikci is not financial advice.
Plaid connection
Mikci connects to supported financial institutions through Plaid. Mikci does not store your bank password and is not itself a bank. Not every institution is supported by Plaid.
Demo Mode (sample activity)
New accounts may explore Mikci using fictional sample activity — sample spending, bills, and payday — so Home, Calendar, letters, and Promises make sense before you link a bank. Sample data is not your financial information and is never mixed with Plaid data. Personalized observations based on your own history require connecting through Plaid. Connecting Plaid switches Mikci from sample activity to your real synced activity permanently for that account. Disconnecting Plaid later does not return the account to sample activity.
Observations
Over time Mikci learns spending patterns from the activity it can see. Most days stay quiet. When something meaningfully changes relative to that history, Mikci may notice.
Promise proposals
A letter may suggest one small measurable Promise. You decide whether to accept. Declining is always fine.
Automatic evaluation
If you accept, Mikci watches actual connected activity and checks the result automatically, then may write a result letter.
Moments
Moments is an optional community share for a win, miss, or in-progress Promise — only if you choose.
Privacy
Private letters and memories stay yours. See the Privacy Policy for details on what Mikci collects and how Plaid activity is used.
Home and Mikci's Desk
Home shows where you are in Mikci's quiet loop — observation, letter, Promise, or answer. Most days it simply says Mikci is watching quietly.

Home does not invent activity. When something actually matters, Mikci notices. When it is worth asking, a letter arrives.
How Mikci Promises work
Mikci writes the Promises. You do not need to invent goals yourself. Mikci compares you to your own history.
- Mikci may notice a pattern after a completed evaluation period (for example, dining rising versus recent weeks).
- If it looks worth asking, Mikci creates a proposal letter in your Mailbox.
- You choose Make this Promise or Not this time.
- If accepted, Mikci watches during the evaluation period while you live normally.
- When enough connected activity exists, Mikci evaluates automatically.
- A result letter arrives with the answer, and the story can move into Memory Vault.
Your Mailbox
Mailbox is where Mikci letters live — proposal letters and result letters.
Mikci noticed something and is asking if you want to make a Promise.
Mikci finished checking a Promise and shares what happened.
Accept a proposal. Mikci watches quietly until the check date.
Decline without shame. Mikci stays quiet until something else matters.
Open a letter to read it fully. Proposal letters only ask Make this Promise or Not this time.
Calendar: Payday, Bill, Reminder
Calendar holds the practical money dates that help Mikci (and you) see what is coming — paydays, bills, and reminders. In sample activity, Mikci includes example bills and payday so Coming up and Calendar are populated without you entering them first.
A deposit you expect — name, amount, frequency, and next payday date.
A payment you entered — name, amount, frequency, due date, and optional reminder.
A date worth remembering — name, date, and optional notes.
When Plaid is connected — or while exploring with sample activity — deposits and spending can appear on the day they happened.
Paydays stay green. Bills use a warmer orange so they are easy to tell apart at a glance.
Memory Vault and Journey Log
Memory Vault
When Mikci finishes checking a Promise, the story can be preserved here — what Mikci noticed, what you agreed to try, and what actually happened.
Journey Log
The Log is chronological. It records observations, accepted Promises, checks, and result deliveries over time.
Memory Vault is curated completed stories. Journey Log is the timeline.
Moments
Moments is an optional soft community feed for a caption, photo, and mood you intentionally share. Other signed-in users can leave a heart or supportive note. Posts can be edited, removed, reported, or set to expire.
Your Mikci letters, Promise answers, and private notes stay private unless you choose to share something in Moments.
Mikci Personality
Personality controls how Mikci's letters sound — not how Promises are evaluated. The same kept or missed result is still kept or missed; only the wording changes.
Default. Supportive, patient, and relaxed.
Casual, playful, and encouraging.
Direct, honest, and accountability-focused. No profanity.
Blunt, sarcastic, and unapologetic. May use strong language or occasional profanity. Mikci asks you to confirm before enabling it.
Choose during onboarding (desktop) or anytime in My Account → Mikci Personality. The preference is saved to your account and follows you across devices.
Email and push notifications
My Account lets you control reminder types independently. Mikci does not send daily reflection or motivational “come back” pushes.
- Promise proposal — when Mikci notices something worth asking you.
- Promise result — when Mikci finishes checking a Promise.
- Mailbox letters — when a letter is ready.
- Important calendar / bills — when something coming up may need attention.
- Plaid attention — when Mikci needs you to reconnect bank activity.
Push notifications require browser permission and an active device subscription. Sensitive financial amounts are not included on the lock screen.
Use or install the mobile app
Mikci includes a phone-focused Progressive Web App at /app/m/. It uses the same account and cloud data as desktop.
- Open Mikci in Safari on iPhone or Chrome on Android.
- Choose Add to Home Screen or Install app from the browser menu.
- Open the new icon and sign in with the same account.
Mobile includes Home, Mailbox, Calendar, Moments, Memory Vault, notifications, and account controls. Sheets replace desktop dialogs, but the underlying data is the same.
Support tickets
Mikci Support lives in the app. Replies appear in your ticket thread from Mikci Support — you do not need to manage a separate email conversation for most help requests.
Create a ticket
- Open My Account.
- Go to the Support section (below Your Data).
- Choose New Support Ticket.
- Add a short Subject, pick a Category, and describe what happened in the Message.
- Optionally attach a Screenshot (JPEG, PNG, or WebP).
- Submit. You will get a ticket number and can open the conversation anytime from Support.
Categories
Choose the closest match: Plaid / Bank connection, Promise issue, Moments, Account / Login, Notifications, Bug report, Feature request, Privacy / Data, or Other.
After you submit
- Open the ticket to read replies and send follow-ups.
- You can close a ticket when you are done, or reopen it later if needed.
- Do not share bank passwords, full account numbers, or one-time codes. Mikci Support never needs those.
Privacy, notifications, and Quiet Mode
- Manage email, push notifications, multi-factor authentication, and active sessions in My Account.
- Choose Mikci Personality in My Account to control how letters sound. Change it anytime.
- Use Quiet Mode to pause reminders without shame. Your letters and memories remain waiting.
- Export your data or permanently delete your account from the account controls.
- Bank activity connects through Plaid when you are ready. Until then, sample activity may power the experience. Mikci never moves money and does not manage investments.
- Mikci does not invent financial-health scores, Pulse ratings, or daily reflection homework.
Troubleshooting
Check notification preferences, Quiet Mode, and whether Mikci has enough connected activity to notice something. The in-app Mailbox remains the source of truth.
Confirm both devices use the same account and have a connection, then refresh or sign in again.
Allow notifications in the browser and operating system, then enable the desired push categories in My Account.
Try a smaller image or a common image format, and confirm the connection is stable.
Open My Account or Calendar sync controls and reconnect Plaid if prompted. Sample activity does not use bank sync.
That is Demo Mode. Connect through Plaid from My Account when you want Mikci to use your real transactions. Connecting replaces sample activity for that account.
Use Forgot password on the sign-in screen. Password reset links expire for security.
If the problem continues, open My Account → Support and create a ticket, or email support@mikci.com with the device, browser, and action you were attempting. Do not send your password.
